I know that I somewhat covered this topic before, but thought that’d I give a little bit more detailed explanation.
Of course as a wife of a cattle farmer I’m going to gravitate towards anything beef related. However I’m not just one sided and believe you should know the good things these beautiful animals can provide to make our lives better (aside from those tasty steaks!)
Beef tallow is close to our own skin’s sebum, meaning that when you apply it acts as a barrier to protect us. It soothes inflammation and potentially improves challenges such as eczema and psoriasis (although they are still researching this.). It’s rich in fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) that can deeply moisturize, nourish and repair the skin barrier. That seemed good enough to me to try to make a lotion especially when I didn’t have to add any chemicals to it to make it useable.
Here are the absolute reasons why beef tallow is a good choice: (This is where I say that I’m not claiming my product will cure, heal, or make everyone and everything better. This has not been tested by the FDA. Always consult your doctor when starting something new. Do a small skin patch test to make sure you don’t have a reaction.)
Deeply moisturizing
Strengthens skin barrier
Soothes inflammation
Provides essential vitamins
Antioxidant protection
Here is a good site that backs up what I say:
