Dryer Sheets

Nope, don’t sell these, but thought it was a topic worth discussing. Do you know how much junk is in those sheets that make our laundry smell so good? I won’t waste your time on my soapbox about them…but you should do yourself a favor and google it. It’s not cool, why would they keep trying to poison us?

Well I’ve tried it all. Those rubber balls that you throw in the dryer. They are ok, but no scent. Tried the wool balls, again, ok, but didn’t love the no scent. So I invested in holistic spray to put on the wool balls…it was ok. The trouble was the cost with something that again, I didn’t know was in it. (Can you tell I have trust issues with purchased products?) Searching I came up with a recipe: Distilled water, epsom salt & essential oil. The problem with that was the salt would plug the spray bottle if it didn’t dissolve…looking back I suppose boiling it all together may have helped.

So, on to what I’m trying now. Thanks to the magical algorithm of tik tok I was delivered a video explaining how to make my own dryer sheets out of rags and household items. So, I cut up that bathroom towel that was ready to be replaced & located an old cookie jar. I mixed 2 cups of vinegar & 2 cups of distilled water and found some essential oil. Then I put my rags in and soaked them in the solution. It seems to be working. For the clothes that seem to be super static prone I throw 2-3 rags in there.

Now it doesn’t smell as great as line dried laundry, or the Downy sheets or liquid, but I’m sure after a few adjustments to how much essential oils I use I can probably get close.

Hopefully you find this interesting enough to give it a try. If we could show these companies that we are sick of them poisoning us, maybe I can get back to trusting their products again. Until that happens, keep checking back to see if you can find new ways to have less toxins in your house.

Seriously, if you all have something better to try, let me know! We would all love to see what is working for you! My goal is to learn from each other to try to eliminated the toxins from our daily lives, but make it easy. If it takes too much time I know Inwont stick to it.

I know that I somewhat covered this topic before, but thought that’d I give a little bit more detailed explanation. Of course as a wife of a cattle farmer I’m going to gravitate towards anything beef
